Keep up with Roofing Trends

We spend a great deal of time thinking about how we want to improve our homes and protect our investment in them. Of course, that comes with budgeting and planning—more thinking. Do your plans include or require a new roof? Whether building from the ground up, creating an addition, or replacing a roof, architects, contractors, and homeowners have a lot to consider. Roofing styles and trends are ever-changing. Choosing yesterday’s roof can leave a house dated. However, the latest trend can have it looking current and modern, protecting your investment, well into the future. We tapped our own Todd Miller for his advice on metal roofing trends to help choose the right roof. He gave us a full report on: New Trends include low-pitched roofs and sleek lines, mixing of roofing materials and designs. And metal roofing colors of black, silver, gray, and bronze. Need a New Roof? Our Survival Guide for the 7%

Are you one of the 7% of American households in need of a new roof? We understand that finding the right roof for your home and situation can be challenging. It may have been a decade or more since you’ve had to think about a roof, much less research your options. And then, you need to find a contractor you can trust. You might call the first number in the Google search results or ask your Facebook friends for a recommendation, but take time to think about your roofing needs before you do. Research and Find Your New Roof Buying a new roof can seem intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Identifying your wants and needs before calling a contractor can provide a better re-roofing experience. Researching the benefits and drawbacks of different roofing materials gives you a perspective on your unique situation. Roofing has changed in the past 20 years. Temporary asphalt shingles are still popular, but permanent metal roofing is a sustainable solution for many homeowners. And it’s gaining

Why do you need 2 metal roof warranties?

When you purchase a new roof, you should receive 2 warranties in writing.  The 1st: from the manufacturer covering the integrity of their product. The 2nd:  from the contractor covering the integrity of their workmanship.  Too often, contractors take advantage of homeowners and shift the focus to the manufacturer’s warranty. The manufacturer covers what they have control over – the product, and the contractor covers what they have control over – the workmanship. This makes it vital to choose a high-quality manufacturer and a high-quality installer. A Roof Warranty is Unique As you investigate warranties, keep in mind how different roofing warranties are. For example, when you buy a TV, you expect it to last much longer than its 1-year warranty—just like the 3-year warranty on your new car. However, with roofing, products usually fail well before the warranty is up. The difference is all in the fine print.  Traditional shingle manufacturers rely on their products to fail before the warr

Solar Roofing: The future of solar power or a fad?

When you hear the words “solar panels,” you might think of a field full of bright metal or an array on a neighbor’s house. These are the two most common examples, but new products from Tesla and GAF aim to change that. Can their work surpass the efficiency and longevity of a metal roof with mounted solar panels? Both companies have taken different approaches, leveraging their expertise in technology and roofing, respectively. Tesla’s answer is sleek, futuristic, and interfaces with their existing technology. GAF stuck to their roofing background, integrating a solar array into an existing shingle. So, we have a technology company making solar roofing and a roofing company making solar roofing. What about a roofing company working with solar professionals for the best of both? What’s best for you, and what should you know as a homeowner? For starters, solar panels and roofing make a great team. Your roof makes up nearly half of the outside of your house, leaving a space perfect for gath

Steel Building Foundations: Everything You Need to Know

Steel building foundations, everything you need to know. It’s natural that when contemplating a new pre engineered steel building all your thoughts are about the building itself – height, width, span, finishes and so on. And these all matter: they’re part of the buildings function, its look, its practicality. Get them right and you’ve got a prefab steel building that you’re going to love for years to come. But an integral part of the building’s installation isn’t the building itself – it’s the foundation on which the building is installed. If you want your newly installed steel building to be safe and sound – and stay that way – then you absolutely must be (a) installing on a solid, custom-built foundation with (b) perfectly aligned anchor bolt connections. Foundations and anchor bolts are the two vital keys to a safe and successful installation. Your steel building rests on the foundation while the anchor bolts securely fasten the structure to the foundation. These items cannot simply
